Hello Neighbor – Spooky Russian Horror
Hello Neighbor is a 3D action horror game by an indie Russian developer tinyBuild. The game tells a surrealistic story of a young boy who once noticed that something strange is going on in his neighbor’s yard across the street. You can help the boy discover what’s going on inside, but you must be incredibly careful. Otherwise, Mr. Peterson will catch Nicky and lock him in the basement forever.
Hello Neighbor has one of the most untypical plots amongst horror games of the last decade. You play Nicky, a young boy who lives in the suburbs. One day, he decides to sneak into his neighbor’s house to figure out what’s going on inside. Soon, he finds out that Mr. Peterson hides people inside his basement, so the only way is to find all the keys and unlock the door. Unfortunately, they’re all scattered around the house, and the Neighbor is endowed with a powerful artificial intelligence. Be sure that he will always notice every clue that you leave behind, and your next coming will be welcomed with a beartrap. Besides, he can catch you around the house if you’re too loud. You have to manipulate objects very quiet and match timings and get into the basement. The story will scare and surprise you at the same time. It’s one of the most thrilling and immersive horrors so far.
The convenience of controls depends on the device you choose to play. The game is currently available for iOS, Android, Nintendo Switch, PS4, Xbox One, and PC, so that you can select the layout that you like the most. Playing on a touchscreen is a bit clumsy, so I recommend you to play with a connectible controller if you don’t have another platform to play on.
While the quality of graphics depends on the platform you choose to play on, the style of the game remains the same. It’s a surrealistic 3D world with nice detalization and beautiful lighting. Although the game looks like a new cartoon by DreamWorks, it manages to be quite scary, too, so don’t get confused!
The price of the game differs, depending on the marketplace and platform. The first act of the mobile version is available for free, while the rest costs $15. On consoles, the price fluctuates from around $7 to $30, depending on discounts. If you are a PC-gamer, you have a chance to get it for free on Epic Store or buy it for around $10-15, depending on available discounts. Fortunately, the $30 price was removed after complaints.
Hello Neighbor is a unique horror experience that will evoke your deep childhood fears and tell you a dramatic story at the same time. It’s bright and colorful from outside, but it gets much darker as you progress. You can get the game on all major marketplaces and try to solve the mystery. When you succeed, try to complete the spinoffs!
